G-BEC helps its client (ACME) meets Nissan label sequencing requirements

Business Problem/Opportunity:
Nissan, a client of (ACME), requires them to send their products labeled and loaded into the truck in a specific sequence. .

Solution:
G-BEC worked with (ACME) to design and implement a simple solution to satisfy Nissan’s requirements concerning product labeling and sequencing at production and shipping. The idea was to keep it simple and use the current label printing, production and shipping transactions almost in the same way they are currently being used from the users’ point of view. The starting point was the data received from Nissan in the 866 EDI Transaction set. The system extracted the data needed after the transaction is being translated. Also, it provided the capability to print Rack (Master) Labels in a way that is as-close-as possible to the current printing process for the current production labels. At the specific line where sequencing was implemented, this Rack label will be scanned to trigger the printing of the parts labels in the required sequence.

G-BEC was involved in consulting capacity only as the development and implementation was carried by (ACME) and its data collection provider.

Technology:
iseries 400
RPG400/ILE
RF Data Collection

Result:
The implemented system met Nissan’s requirements for product sequencing and integrated seamlessly into (ACME’s) current systems.
